We are excited to announce that Barbara McLaughlan will be supporting Cicero as Senior Counsel, bringing extensive health policy expertise to our team.

Barbara has more than 25 years’ experience in government affairs, patient advocacy and comms from working in the third sector, agency and pharmaceutical industry at UK and global level (EMEA, Canada, Australia). She has worked on a wide range of health policy areas from eye health to oncology to rare diseases.

Select achievements include:

• A successful campaign to accelerate access to treatment for patients with wet age-related macular degeneration
• A key role in extending and then reforming the UK’s Cancer Drugs Fund
• A European prostate cancer campaign that resulted in screening for prostate cancer being included in new EU screening recommendations
• Up-skilling of market access teams to design and implement impactful Government Affairs projects.

During her time at Astellas Barbara demonstrated her leadership skills by upskilling market access teams across the affiliates in her region, enabling them to devise and execute highly impactful campaigns at the national level. Her multi-lingualism (mother tongue German, fluent in English and French, good Spanish and Russian) is a major asset given the multi-cultural nature of much of her client work.
