The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and enhancing client relationships, overseeing the overall direction and delivery of client activity including support on health and care policy, legislation and regulation. The successful will also have the opportunity to gain experience in new business development.

This role requires a strong grasp of UK politics and health policy as well as an interest in European and Global health policy (experience in these latter areas is desirable but not essential).

Role Responsibilities:

Account Management:

  • Developing and delivering day-to-day client activity.
  • Quality control of account deliverables.
  • Working with account colleagues on resource management.
  • Maintain overview of account, and proactively advise client on new issues/external environment and contribute to strategic planning meetings with client.

Client liaison:

  • Maintaining excellent relations with clients.
  • Identifying opportunities to expand Cicero’s service offerings and delivering this where appropriate.
  • Support client marketing and retention.
  • Organise regular and timely meetings with colleagues to ensure service levels are maintained.

Business development:

  • Help develop opportunities for growing existing business.
  • Assist with development and presentation of new business opportunities.

Professional relations:

  • Building and maintaining key relationships with a broad range of stakeholders including Government officials, Parliamentarians, regulators and sector practitioners.
  • Demonstrate innovation and creativity in presenting new ideas.
  • Managing junior team members on accounts.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience in healthcare public affairs is a must-have, whether in agency, an in-house role or the charity sector.
  • A minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in a related role.
  • An understanding of the UK political system is essential and an interest in European and Global health policy desirable.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills – ability to communicate effectively with team members, key audiences and clients in written and verbal formats.

  • Organising meetings and client calls, being actively prepared to participate in meetings.
  • Writing and circulating client and internal meeting agendas
  • Keeping minutes during meetings and circulating important action points
  • Contributing to client briefings and documents
  • All administration on accounts to ensure smooth running of delivery
  • Presenting elements to clients in meetings
  • Keeping up to date with political and current affairs and flagging important client-related points to the team
  • Written communications, such as letters, blogs, memo’s and emails
  • Undertaking media and desk research for new business pitches and current client programmes as required
