Cicero/amo is looking for an intern to join our EU government relations team. This will be a paid placement, for an initial period of three months, based in our Brussels office. The role will be in a fast-moving environment helping our client teams to stay on top of the busy EU legislative landscape. The position will offer the candidate the opportunity to gain exposure to a multitude of policy areas and serve as a valuable introduction to public affairs.
Main tasks:
- Providing detailed policy and legislative background briefings
- Monitoring and tracking the EU legislative agenda
- Building and maintaining stakeholder maps
- Scheduling and providing support for meetings
- Broader support for client teams in day-to-day account delivery
- Supporting the team on new business proposals
The ideal candidate will have:
- A keen interest in EU policy, politics, economics and business; with any prior experience of EU policy or politics a significant asset
- Some sectoral experience or know-how in financial services, including digital finance, is preferred
- A “get up and go” attitude, ready to assist in a wide range of tasks and take the initiative where possible
- Aptitude to learn new topics quickly
- Excellent written, communication and interpersonal skills
- Fluency in English; an additional language would be an advantage
- Available to start immediately
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships
