David Willetts, Executive Chairman of the Resolution Foundation, former Minister for Universities and Science and a thought leader on retirement policy, joined Cicero’s Strategic Counsel and former CEO of Invesco Pensions David Butcher on the 25 October for a discussion on the future of pensions.
The discussion touched upon key themes including how to address intergenerational fairness, what difference auto-enrolment and the Lifetime ISA will make in filling the savings gap and the likely direction for pensions tax relief policy.
Mr Willetts also addressed questions on how to engage younger people with regards to long-term savings, and whether the government will have the bandwidth to support further changes to pension policy following the UK’s vote to leave the European Union.
The event was held under the Chatham House rule.
